Episode 5. Niizawa

Kioku Bar is pleased to present the fifth episode of our Sake Masterclass Series, featuring Niizawa Sake and hosted by CEO Iwao Niizawa. This exclusive event offers a tasting of six exceptional sakes, including the super-premium Hikari, Super 7, and the extraordinary Absolute 0, all paired with refined bar bites.

Founded in 1873, Niizawa Sake Brewery is known for its pioneering spirit, especially with their Reikyo “Absolute 0” sake, which has a rice polishing ratio of just 0.85%, removing over 99% of the original rice grain. After relocating due to the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, the brewery continued to innovate under Iwao Niizawa, who became Miyagi’s youngest brewmaster in 2000. With the recent appointment of Japan’s youngest female brewmaster, Nanami Watanabe, in 2018, Niizawa has earned the title of “Sake Brewer of the Year” in 2022 and 2023 at the International Wine Challenge (IWC).

Tickets cost £125 per person and include a flight of six sakes and a selection of bar snacks.
